This policy explains what information Modern Lane collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal language.
Information you give us
When you place an order, we collect your name, your mobile number, your delivery address and district, your email address if you choose to provide it, and any order note you add.
We collect this for one reason: to deliver your order and to be able to contact you about it. We do not ask for anything we do not need. We never ask for your card details, your bank details, or your mobile financial service PIN, and no one from Modern Lane will ever ask you for a PIN or an OTP.
When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we automatically receive some technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, and the website or advertisement that referred you.
Cookies and similar technologies
- Essential — keeping items in your cart and letting checkout work. The site cannot function without these
- Performance — caching, so pages load quickly for you
- Advertising and analytics — we use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API so we can measure whether our Facebook and Instagram advertisements are working, and show relevant products to people who have visited our site
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, checkout will stop working.
Who we share information with
- Our delivery partners — your name, mobile number and delivery address, so that they can bring you your parcel
- Meta Platforms — hashed, non-readable event data through the Conversions API, used to measure advertising performance
- Our hosting provider — which stores the website and its database on our behalf
- Government authorities — only where we are legally required to do so
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand your contact details to other businesses for marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting and customer service, normally two years, and then delete or anonymise them. Contact form messages are kept for one year.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption across the whole site, we restrict administrative access to a small number of accounts, and we keep our software updated. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect what you give us.
Children
Our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your choices
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete your information where we are not required to keep it. Email support@modernlane.xyz and we will respond within seven working days. We may need to verify your identity by asking about a recent order before we act on the request.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on our home page.
